I usually find Mark Di Ionno's reporting to be accurate, which is why I was disappointed to discover he has subscribed to the myth of the $4 Starbucks cup of coffee ('Who can spare 4 bucks for a cup of coffee now?" Jan. 30). The day his article appeared, I checked out the prices at the Starbucks on George Street in New Brunswick. A "tall" (smallest size) cost $1.65; "grande" (medium) cost $1.85 and the largest size, "venti," cost $1.95 -- less than half the $4 price of urban legend. While Starbucks coffee may still cost more than average, I have never been disappointed by its superior quality, which is more than I can say for my home brews. I suggest Di Ionno actually try a Starbucks coffee -- he'll have more money left in his wallet than he thinks, and he'll realize what coffee lovers will be losing if Starbucks goes out of business.
