It has been observed many times: America is a nation of laws, not of men. This concept is the very bedrock of our hard-won freedoms. Any exception to this principle would undermine the notion of democracy here, and around the world.

This is not a partisan issue. Any president who breaks the law, whether through arrogance or ignorance, poses as real a threat to American freedoms as any foreign entity ever could.

If Congress does not hold this president accountable for his actions, then it is failing to protect the American people from abuses of power that could undermine our safety, our freedom, and our very way of life itself.
