Recently, President George W. Bush admitted the intelligence leading to the Iraq War was faulty. Bush also admitted using the National Security Agency to perform wiretaps on American citizens without obtaining search warrants, allegedly in violation of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Unrepentant on both counts, Bush maintained going to war "was the right thing to do" and also defiantly vowed to continue eavesdropping on American citizens without court oversight.

Students of American history may recall that illegal wiretapping programs of American citizens was previously conducted by President Richard Nixon - who resigned before he could be impeached for this and
other offenses. If Nixon was forced to resign, how long can Bush escape accountability for his actions?

You would never know it from following the mainstream media, but Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., introduced House Resolutions to censure both Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney and investigate the administration's
misuse and manipulation of pre-war intelligence.

Citizens who feel Bush should be held accountable for his actions should contact their representatives in Congress and ask them to support Rep. Conyers' House Resolutions, H. Res. 636 and H. Res. 637. The President of the United States is not above the law, and his abuses of power should not go unchecked.
