"Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) has introduced legislation to close the 'Terror Gap,' correctly calling it a homeland security issue, not a gun issue.

"It’s a shocking loophole, and a majority of Americans want the law changed — including 82 percent of NRA members, according to a 2009 survey by Republican pollster Frank Luntz. The U.S. Government Accountability Office found people on the terror watch list were able to purchase weapons 247 times last year. Credit Lautenberg with getting the GAO to start keeping track."
