The Sentinel, November 18, 2010
"I would like to publicly thank the people of the 12th Congressional District for putting their faith in me for another two years. This appreciation is for those who voted for me — and for those who didn’t.
"I have received many different interpretations of the meaning of the election results here and around the country, and, as always, I seek the wisdom of my constituents. Although this victory was not a landslide vote, neither was it a squeaker, with a margin of about 14,000 votes, 53 to 46 percent.
"The election provided a clear choice between my priorities and record and those of my opponent. Voters evidently endorsed my argument that the reason we Americans band together as a country is to extend opportunity and liberty to everyone rather than to preserve privilege for the few. I made that idea the central point of my campaign, just as it has been the central focus of my time in public service."
