CourierPOstOnline.com • September 13, 2008 http://www.courierpostonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080913/OPINION/809130314/1047 In the classic film "12 Angry Men" (1957), there's a scene where the character portrayed by Ed Begley Sr. argues the defendant on trial must be guilty because he's Hispanic. One by one, the other jurors turn their backs to Begley's character, ignoring the fallacy of his bigotry. Like Begley's character, Jerome Corsi -- author of the anti-Obama book, "The Obama Nation," hopes to use racism and bigotry to bring down a man of color. Corsi tries to use the ethnicity of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., to "prove" unsubstantiated claims about the senator's religious background refuted a long time ago. American voters should reject the politics of bigotry and turn a deaf ear to Corsi's smear campaign against Obama. EDDIE KONCZAL Monroe
