Presidential candidate John McCain says he's an environmentalist -- opposing global warming and supporting renewable energy, even though he still agrees with President Bush's refusal to support the Kyoto protocol.

In addition, under "environment" his campaign Web site has no substantive proposals. It appears he hasn't any conception of the number of new jobs that would be created by renewable energy and conservation industries -- jobs that can't be outsourced.

Furthermore, the recently released League of Conversation Voters 2007 voting records show that he was the only member of Congress to miss all 15 crucial environmental votes, including one that would have repealed tax giveaways to big oil. That measure lost by one vote. His lifetime record on environmental issues is a measly 24 percent.

Although in Washington at the time, he was the only senator who also missed a 2008 vote to make renewable energy more affordable. He's willing to spend billions of dollars and thousands of lives invading foreign lands for oil, but unwilling to help this nation become energy independent while fighting global warming and creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs.

After the devastation inflicted upon us by the Bush administration, we must elect a president who will reject such negative behavior and work aggressively to undo the damage. Clearly, Sen. McCain is not that man.
