Press of Atlantic City http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/147/story/127607.html Regarding the March 31 letter, "Obama unsuited for presidency": In Barack Obama's speech on race in America, he never said he didn't understand why his grandmother and older white women are afraid of black men; he said that her comments made him cringe. To use the shooting of five white women in a robbery and the murder of two college students to reinforce some white women's fears of black men is illogical given that women are most often murdered by a husband, fiance or friend, usually of the same color. As a 72-year-old white woman, I am proud to count some outstanding young black men as friends, and I am dismayed that they are exposed to such a letter. They are probably cringing, as am I. Obama's speech called for an end to our divisions, to finally become "we, the people." The letter writer suggests that he dedicate his life to the betterment of "his people," forgetting that his heritage is both black and white. Hopefully, he can help all of us solve some of the many problems that our nation continues to ignore. Assuming the writer is a Hillary Clinton supporter, a positive letter about Clinton, instead of a negative attack based on stereotypes, would have been more productive. BETTIE J.
