Atlantic City Press http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/147/story/133085.html As the end of President Bush's term nears, we reflect on what might have been. Candidate Bush ran as a "uniter," yet one would be hard-pressed during our lifetime to find a more divisive force in the Oval Office. Supported by a Congress of the same party, his negotiation strategy has been "my way or the highway." Bush told us he was a "compassionate conservative," but his compassion rarely touches America's workers. Yet when a Bear Stearns & Co. gets in trouble for making bad loans, Bush is quick with a bailout. Bush's policies have grown the national debt to $9.6 trillion, have mired us in a war with no exit strategy, lost people jobs, caused wages to go down and families to lose their homes while eroding our freedoms. We can stay the course no longer. Sen. Barack Obama has exhibited the judgment and temperament required to address the issues that are sure to be left unresolved by the Bush administration.
