When the United States invaded Iraq in March 2003, the architects of the war told us the occupation might last five weeks or five months. Our involvement in Iraq has now lasted five years with no end in sight.Since the invasion, nearly 4,000 American troops have died, and the claims that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction and had ties to al-Qaida have been proven false.
When Republican presidential nominee John McCain was told that President Bush believes our troops should remain in Iraq for another 50 years, McCain said, "Make it 100."
American voters might want to ask themselves whether they want their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren continuing to fight a war that was begun over false information.
