When will we end destruction from within? "War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes ... known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few.... No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare."-- James Madison, Political Observations, 1795 More than four years into the Iraq war some Americans, like lemmings, still follow George W. Bush over the cliff. Now he's attempting to mislead us into a war against Iran. What will he use for soldiers and where will the money come from? Our half trillion-dollar military budget is more than all other nations combined. The U.S. military industrial complex has done irreparable harm, helped overturn governments in Central America, the Middle and Far East, supported tyrants worldwide, and manipulated trade all while being the world's biggest arms exporter.Bush sees terrorists everywhere, even though they're in the minority, and he still says they hate us for our democracy and freedom. Could it be because we've been an arrogant, polluting, overconsuming, militant nation whose corporate bottom line comes before mankind's overwhelming needs? Meanwhile, Americans struggle to care for our own; we're told there's no money to spend for infrastructure repairs, universal health care, global warming, affordable prescriptions for seniors, upgrading schools, the SCHIP program, etc. How much longer will we sit idly by and let this destruction from within continue?
