The Climate May Be Right for a Global Warming Bill

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/020608M.shtml

Richard Simon, of The Los Angeles Times, writes: "scores of climate change bills are stacking up in the legislative queue. Numerous hearings, the most recent on the polar bear, are highlighting the issue. And some regulation-averse corporate executives have even called on Congress to step in. But despite the dramatic shift in the Capitol in favor of doing something to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, global warming legislation remains a long shot for this year."

Obama wins 13 States to Clinton's 8 on Super Tuesday PDF Print E-mail
2008 Election

On Super Tuesday, Barack Obama won 13 states:

Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, and Utah.

Hillary Clinton won 8 states:

Arizona, Arkansas, California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

New Mexico is still too close to call.

Hillary is trumpeting her "red state" wins; she won 4 states that voted for Bush in 2004.

By contrast,  Obama won 9 red states.

I think Obama had a huge Super Tuesday and is not getting enough credit in the mainstream media for winning in all regions of the country.

The best health care plan PDF Print E-mail
Health Care

There has considerable argument over this.  Both Clinton Nad Obama's plan are very similar.  Basically, they allow for entry to the Federal Employee Health Care plan for those who can't afford health care insurance.  Clinton mandates coverage while Obama leaves it as optional.

I see this as potentially a back-door regulated multi-payer system.  If the Federal Pool is opened to everyone then we would all be in a highly regulated insurance pool.  It would be impossible to deny coverage.

This sort of model is common overseas; perhaps, even more common than single payer.  The disadvantage is that you still have the "middle man" though it would be kept under control.
